The Toast are making their digital debut with their music video Slave to the RaRa.

Since being formed in 2016, the band have only been sharing their eccentric music through their live performances.

The outfit consists of frontmen Bheki Dladla and Nathan Rudnick who combine their rhyme schemes and deliver  lyrics over Rap Rave (RaRa) beats, which are composed and produced by Rudnick. Their sound is reinforced with rhythms by drummer, Jarid Swart.

Content producer Grant Lucas and Chase Michael who captured footage of The Toast performing at Afriski, Up the Creek and The Mercury, both contributed to the production of the video, which can be watched on YouTube.

The Toast came up with their name as an ode to the industry and the spirit of music.

“Our name implies with each performance and release we are making a toast to those who appreciate art, support local creatives and to those who love to feel something exciting, Cheers to the pleasure seekers and conscious minds,” says Dladla.

Dladla and Rudnick were previously in a band called iScream and the Chocolate Stix in 2009 and Rudnick went on to act as lead guitarist for the band until 2016. Through this successful project, they opened for MC Hammer and Lil Wayne, won a SAMA in 2013 and worked and played with some of the top South African bands including Lonehill Estate, Ard Matthews, Locnville, Good Luck, Freshlyground, Gangs of Ballet, Prime Circle, Jack Parow and aKING.

Rudnick created The Toast in 2016 and has since been honing his skills, for the first time in his career, as a rapper.
