Elves come out to play

The Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company will be performing, The Elves and The Shoemaker at the Nassau Theatre, on the grounds of Groote Schuur High School, on Palmyra Road in Newlands, in the December school holidays, until Saturday December 22, at 10.30am.

After each show the audience will be able to meet Father Christmas, who will be handing out sweets to all the children.

Parents are asked to take a present or a second-hand toy for an underprivileged child to put under the Elves’ Christmas tree. They will be distributed to various children’s homes, safe houses and hospitals in Cape Town before Christmas Eve.

This telling of the fairytale classic is set in Cape Town, were a shoemaker lives with his wife. They are very poor and are worried that they will not be able to sell any shoes.

Two young elves pay them a visit and make it the best time they have ever had. The elves turn pieces of leather into beautiful shoes and join the shoemaker and his wife for their Christmas party.

Adapted and directed by Elton John Duffy, the show has a modern twist and features popular songs from the Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani and LMFAO.

This production stars Desle Mc Conney, Shaun Klaasen, Almar Muller, Buddy Bo Butler and Elton John Duffy. Tickets are R85 and bookings can be made through Computicket or online at www.computicket.com
