■ Alan Committie and Nicole Fortuin will star in Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet’s Oleanna at the Fugard Theatre from Friday September 14 to Saturday October 20. In Oleanna, a female college student engages with her male professor in a heated discussion about his lesson content and teaching style. The relationship of a somewhat pedantic teacher and his student quickly turns into an examination of the mechanisms of status, censorship, abuse and a charge of sexual harassment. The play explores the contemporary issues of the assumption of power, intellectual freedom and sexual politics against the background of academic, institutional and structural inequality. It carries an age restriction of 16 and will be performed from Tuesday to Saturdays at 8pm with a matinee on Saturdays at 3pm. Sunday performances will be presented from Sunday September 30, at 3pm. Tickets cost from R150 through the Fugard Theatre box office on 021 461 4554 or online at www.thefugard.com. There is a 15% discount for Friends of the Fugard and a 10% discount for pensioners.
