Elmare and Monique Stockigt spotted something sticking out of the sand at Big Bay beach, on Saturday February 2, and decided to dig it up with help from their pooch, Tammy. What started as curiosity turned into two hours of serious digging of a hole almost three metres wide to free a carpet. Monique suspects the carpet could be flotsam or perhaps evidence perlemoen smuggling. The couple were so tired after digging they left the carpet folded up next to the spot they had dug it up.
