Police have arrested eight men for a petrol-station robbery in Milnerton in which a safe was stolen.
Milnerton police spokeswoman Captain Nopaya Madyibi said masked men with guns held up petrol attendants and shop assistants at the station on Wednesday last week.
Video footage later helped police track the robbers’ getaway car to a Joe Slovo house where the stolen safe, with the money still inside, was found, along with other suspected stolen goods and toy guns.
The eight suspects were set to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday March 9.
Police have arrested two men in connection with separate rape cases in the Site 5 informal settlement.
Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler said a woman sleeping at a friend’s house in Site 5 on Saturday March 3 had reported waking up to find a man she knew raping her.
Police arrested a 43-year-old man on Sunday March 11 — the same day a woman sleeping next to her boyfriend felt someone on top of her and woke to find it wasn’t him.
She screamed, waking her boyfriend.
Police arrested a man who is known to the woman.
Police have arrested two women suspected of using a child to pickpocket people in Table View.
Captain Chandler said the two women were believed to be linked to several theft cases in the area. It’s alleged they would get the girl to steal from people while they distracted them.
Captain Chandler said the women and girl had been travelling along the West Coast Road on Saturday March 10 when officers acting on a tip-off had pulled the vehicle over and arrested the women, aged 27 and 34, on charges relating to child exploitation.
Captain Chandler said the girl had been reunited with her mother.
