Five gunmen broke through the front door of a Coral Road home in Bloubergstrand on Wednesday July 20, at 9pm, and ordered the homeowner to show them to the safe.
When the man told the intruders he didn’t have a safe, they hit him on the forehead with a gun, tied his hands behind his back with a laptop cable and locked him in the bedroom, while they ransacked the house, according to Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler.
The men demanded the man’s car keys. After hearing his blue and silver Smart car driving off, the man waiting for a while before finding something to cut the cable binding his hands.
“Table View police arrived at the scene and gave the details of the stolen vehicle to all stations to look out for. The suspects are armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact Table View SAPS on 021 521 3308 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” said Captain Chandler.
* On Friday July 22, at 2.20am, Bothasig police responded to a call-out for a burglary in progress. Warrant Officers Dean Newman and Gavin Ford and Constable Jonathan Kriel found a garage door broken into at the address. Hearing a noise from inside, they entered with guns drawn and found two men hiding.
The vehicle in the garage had been broken into. The officers detained the men, a 25-year-old from Dunoon and a 42-year-old from Richwood, on charges of housebreaking and theft out of a motor vehicle. Bothasig police spokesman Warrant Officer Jacques Mostert said the men had appeared in Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Monday July 25.
