Three masked men, one armed with a knife, broke into a Gie Road complex in Parklands in the early hours of Wednesday March 30.
Table View police spokeswoman Lieutenant Adriana Chandler said the balaclava-clad intruders woke the occupant, at about 2.20am, and ordered him to tell them where the safe was.
The men wore gloves, and one was holding a knife.
When the intruders discovered there was no safe, they took some of the man’s belongings and left.
* A Woodstock man and a friend were leaving a business in Hamstead Close, Parklands, on March 30, at 10.20pm, when two neatly dressed men, one with a ponytail and both of dark complexion, confronted them.
One of the men pointed a gun at the Woodstock man and his friend and demanded their belongings.
They were told to lie on the ground and searched.
The robbers took cash and a cellphone, said Lieutenant Chandler.
* Table View police arrested a 33-year-old man in Site 5 informal settlement on Saturday March 26 for forcing his way into the home of a woman who had an interdict against him and assaulting her with a glass bottle. The man appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday March 29.
* Table View Police have warned homeowners, including those in security complexes, to activate their burglar alarms, even if they are just popping out to the shop for a few minutes, following several cases in which homes were burgled but alarms had not been armed.
In some cases, windows had been left open and doors unlocked.
lPolice arrested a 45-year-old man for being in possession of stolen property at Arum Road, Milnerton, on Saturday April 2, at 3.10am, according to Warrant Officer Daphne O’Reilly.
The man appeared in court on Monday, and the case was postponed for further investigation.
