Body recovered at Blouberg Beach

National Sea Rescue Institute members had joined lifeguards in a search of the man.

The body of a drowned man was recovered at Blouberg Beach, in Table View, on Sunday.

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Melkbosstrand coxswain, Rowan Marais, said their crew had joined lifeguards at 5.30pm after reports came in of a man in a wetsuit having difficulty in the water. Kite-boarders had meanwhile reported seeing what appeared to be a body.

“The body of the unidentified man, believed to be aged in his mid-30s, was recovered from the water by three kite-boarders,” said Mr Marais.

Resuscitation attempts were stopped after paramedics declared the man dead.

“It appears that the man may have entered the water at Dolphin Beach and after getting into difficulty the body floated to where it was recovered at Blouberg Beach, Table View. Police have opened an inquest docket,” said Mr Marais.
