Elizabeth Viljoen, Brooklyn
For the past few years I have put together a meal for the less fortunate in the Brooklyn, Maitland and Milnerton areas, and once again I am looking for help from the community, to give those in distress, the homeless and the elderly a little something for Christmas.
If we as a community come together, we can help the neglected feel special for one day this year. If everyone in the community was to donate just a tin of beans, a lettuce or a R10 bag of mince, even just one potato, imagine what a special day we can give those in need.
I would like to present a meal consisting of the following: A chicken/ meat and vegetable pasta, mince curry with rice, any vegetables whether canned or fresh, such as potatoes, carrots, peas, baked beans or sweet corn, and a trifle sponge pudding with jelly, Ideal milk, canned fruit and custard; even cake flour and eggs will be welcomed, and finally, any mix-a-drink type juice.
I am also collecting second-hand clothes and toys for the children and the needy.
The meal will be hosted on Sunday December 24 at the Thomas Riddle Moth Hall on Koeberg Main Road, at 2.30pm and anyone is invited to come along.

And to all readers, please put a present under your Christmas tree for your pets as they also deserve to be treated for this special day.
