Table View is the second worst precinct in the province for commercial crime, and Milnerton is the sixth worst, according to the latest crime statistics.
Table View ranks 11th in the country for commercial crime with 275 reported cases, while Milnerton is 23rd with 208 cases.
Commercial crimes are acts of corruption, money laundering, fraud and forgery.
The latest SAPS crime statistics, covering the period from April to June this year, were released on Friday last week.
Some 208 commercial crime cases were reported in Milnerton for the quarter, up by 31% from the same period last year. In Table View, there was a 20% increase, from 228 to 275 cases.
Milnerton is also ranked ninth in the province and 42nd in the country for 17 community-reported serious crimes. These include contact crimes, contact-related crimes, property-related crimes and other serious crimes.
This category saw a 5% decrease, from 1293 to 1229 cases, in Milnerton, while in Table View, which was ranked 12th in the province for this category (and 54th in the country), the number of these cases dropped from 1113 to 1196.
Milnerton is ranked 29th in the province for aggravated assault, with 53 cases reported, down from 65, and 12th for carjacking with 16 cases.
Table View and Milnerton appear again in the top-10 for common robbery cases in the province. Table View is eighth with 63 cases, and Milnerton is 10th with 61 cases.
The Milnerton precinct is 15th in the province in the contact crimes category, with 416 cases, while Table View is ranked 30th in the province for culpable homicide with three cases reported.
Milnerton is ranked 13th in the province in the murder category with 22 cases, up from 15 cases. Table View does not feature in this category, either provincially or nationally, for the top-30 stations.
In the “other serious crimes” category, Table View and Milnerton show up in the top-six provincially. Table View is third (14th in the country) and Milnerton is sixth (22nd in the country). Table View has 597 cases, while Milnerton has 529. “Other serious crimes” refer to theft, shoplifting and commercial crimes.
In the property-related crimes category, Milnerton and Table View are ranked 14th and 17th in the province, respectively. Milnerton has 216 cases and Table View has 207. Both precincts showed slight decreases in this category.
Reported rapes in Table View went up from eight to 17 cases while in Milnerton, they dropped from 22 to 17.
Table View was ranked 12th in the province for residential robberies with 12 cases compared to just one for the same period last year. Milnerton was ranked 15th in the province for this crime with nine cases.
Milnerton ranked third in the province and 20th in the country for shoplifting with 74 cases while Table View ranked ninth in the province and 45th in the country for this crime with 55 cases.
