Cops seize R5m worth of abalone in Milnerton raid

According to provincial police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel André Traut, Flying Squad officers arrested the two foreign nationals, aged between 25 and 34, following a tip-off that there was abalone in an Ashton Street house.

Officers also seized abalone-processing gear while searching the house.

Police arrested five people near Dunoon last week for public violence and resisting arrest.

According to Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler, SAPS officers were helping the sheriff deliver a court order and remove illegal structures on a site near Malibongwe Drive, on Thursday January 31, when a crowd got verbally abusive and some people started damaging the demolition equipment.

Police intervened and arrested three men and two women.

Two women were abducted, held at knifepoint and robbed after climbing into a taxi in Parklands, last week.

According to Captain Chandler, the women were driven from their intended destination and forced to give up their belongings.

Table View officers on a routine patrol spotted the women in the windows of the vehicle screaming for help when it went through a stop street.

The driver ignored the officers’ instructions to stop and there was a brief chase before the taxi was forced to stop.

The women jumped out and reported they had been robbed by three men and a woman in the taxi.

The officers arrested the suspects, who are all in their 30s. They were held at the Table View police station and face charges of kidnapping, robbery and possession of dangerous weapons.
