The Dial-a-Ride service started operating again on Saturday January 5 after users were left stranded during the procurement of a new long-term six-year contract.

The City of Cape Town received confirmation late on Friday January 4 that the applications for operating licenses and the roadworthy test for the vehicles had been finalised.

Mayoral committee member for transport Felicity Purchase says: “I want to thank our partners for going the extra mile to ensure that the service is back into operation in time for the start of the school year and the return to work for many of the users.”

HG Travelling CC, the Dial-a-Ride operator, has also started taking bookings to ensure that the services run without any further complications.

Dial-a-Ride users can call the Transport Information Centre 24/7 on 0800 65 64 63 for regular updates. Dial-a-Ride bookings can be made by calling 080 060 0895.
