Cape Town firefighters are currently battling a blaze in Usasaza Street, Du Noon.
City Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Jermaine Carelse said firefighters stationed at Milnerton responded to a call about structures being on fire, just before noon on Friday December 30.
Mr Carelse said when crews arrived they found several informal structures alight and that law enforcement officers had to be called when community members tried to interfere with the work of the firefighters.
At the time of publication, there were 15 firefighting appliances and more than 60 firefighters battling to contain the blaze. One firefighter sustained an injury and had to be transported to hospital, Mr Carelse said.
