Entries open for kite competition

Entries are now open for this year’s EduKite competition for primary schools and schools for pupils with special educational needs.

The competition is part of the 23rd Cape Town International Kite Festival, which takes place in Muizenberg on Saturday October 28 and Sunday October 29.

Every school that enters EduKite will be given a kite-making kit containing blank kites, which they can then illustrate and fly at the festival.

There are six prizes: R3 000 for first place; R2 000 for second place; and R1 000 for third place, awarded in each school category.

“The EduKite Competition gives learners of all abilities the opportunity to be part of Africa’s biggest kite festival and win cash prizes,” said Ingrid Daniels, director of Cape Mental Health.

“This year, learners will explore the festival theme ‘Right to Fly’ and we look forward to seeing their interpretations on their kites.”

Entries close on Friday September 15. Space is limited and there is no cost to enter.
