Parklands College’s two Robotics teams, Infinity and Robodog, who earned gold medal status at the South African World Robot Olympiad (WRO), at Tshwane University of Technology, in September, represented South Africa, along with 11 other national teams, in the WRO International in New Delhi in November, where more than 500 teams from 57 countries took part. Teams had to create a robot and programme it to complete a specific task in a required amount of time. Team Robodog finished 15th in their category which is the highest placed position by any South African robotics team in that category so far. Team Infinity also placed 15th in their category. Both teams were awarded South African national colours with Mindsports South Africa (MSSA) – an affiliate of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC).
