It was at Tafelberg School in Bothasig that Stuart Purnell was first introduced to fly fishing in late 2012. Since then he has steadily improved his skill and is described as a “true ambassador for the sport”. During June/July, he was part of a four-man fly fishing team representing South Africa in the Czech Republic. Stuart placed 19th overall. He loves teaching the young ones and guiding fellow fishermen. Every year since he started fishing, he has made the Protea Trials, won his school’s coveted fly fishing award, as well as the Sportsman’s Trophy. He was elected head prefect for 2016.
