Four women, all in their 20s, were arrested, in Parklands on Wednesday May 3, for theft and being in possession of stolen property worth more than R1million, say police.
Three of the women had met a man at a bar in Parklands the previous week, said Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler.
“They all went to the complainant’s home, and whilst asleep, the women stole the property and left the following morning, without waking the complainant,” said Captain Chandler.
With the help of video footage and informants, the three women were traced to a bed and breakfast where they were arrested along with a fourth woman. All four women have also been linked to another three cases, where the same modus was used to commit this type of crime.
Clothing, jewellery, suitcases, cell phones, electronic equipment and laptops were among the recovered stolen items, said Captain Chandler.
