I was very excited to see the headline “Road plan to ease traffic congestion” in Tabletalk on Wednesday June 20.
It was great reading that the City had come under budget by R20 million.
The article mentions “the study found Blaauwberg was one of the congestion hot spots”.
I would like to know if it is planned to make the N7/Plattekloof Bridge wider, as this is the biggest cause of congestion in the area.
In 2010, when I asked about the widening of the bridge, I was told there would not be any upgrades for five years.
It is not great having dual carriageways on both sides of the bridge only to have the bridge going into a single lane when heading from Koeberg Road to Plattekloof.
This causes huge delays during peak hours. If this bridge were widened like the Bosmansdam/N7 bridge, it would save people huge amounts of time, money on fuel, less fumes in the air and Blaauwberg residents and those working there would be very happy.
