Paddy, a Jack Russell who loves to walk, completed a 10km walk with his owner, Mary Langebrink, and a few friends, on Sunday, to raise funds and awareness for the SPCA.
Paddy’sgoal was to raise R10 000 but he ended up raising R10 525.
In 2016 Ms Langebrink and a group of friends painted their faces with whiskers and wore SPCA arm warmers and pinned posters to their backs to raise awareness for SPCA’s anti dog fighting campaign during the FNB OneRun.
“During this run, Paddy was treated likeacelebrityand was stopped on numerous occasions so that people could take photos of him or selfies with him,” said Ms Langebrink.
Paddy participated in the race again last year, and this year Ms Langebrinkdecidedtocreate social media accounts for Paddy to raise funds for the SPCA.
“We decided to take advantage of Paddy’s ‘celebrity status’ and let it help a good cause.
“Unfortunately Paddy was unable to run the FNB OneRun this year, but this did not stop us.
“He did his regular parkrun on Saturday morning May 26 and then we did the 10km walk on Sunday along the Blouberg Beachfront,” said Ms Langebrink.
