Lions Club Milnerton gets new president

Lions Club Milnerton welcomed their new president at an induction lunch held at their clubhouse in Milnerton Ridge on Saturday June 22. Outgoing president Linda Engelbrecht handed over the reins to Marlene Gie, the 58th president of the club. Ms Gie has been a member of Lions Clubs International since 1995, holding numerous positions within the organisation, including secretary, zone chairperson and regional chairperson. Originally from Paarl, Ms Gie lived in Johannesburg for a short period before moving back to the Cape. She worked for the City of Cape Town for 37 years and has two sons. She is also a breast cancer survivor and spends a lot of her time working for the Reach for Recovery organisation.
