Making a change

■ Edgemead Primary School pupil Alessandro Smit has collected hundreds of bottle tops and bread tags for plastic-recycling projects that raise money for people needing wheelchairs as well as for those needing corrective surgery for cleft palates. Alessandro, 8, pictured, started supporting the projects last year. This year, instead of handing in the tags and tops bit by bit, he decided to hand in his entire collection on his birthday, on Thursday September 20. Alessandro and his mom, Nelia, handed in about 10 black bags and 10 boxes of bottle tops as as well as four big boxes of bread tags. Alessandro is willing to collect tops and tags in and around the Edgemead area. If you can help, email Nelia Smit at info@givethanks.co.za and visit www.breadtagsforwheelchairs.co.za for more information.
