A Wolwerivier nursery school has a new kitchen unit, mattresses and educational equipment thanks to a Mandela Day donation organised by the Centre for Early Childhood Development, Poco amd Anchor Industries. The Sunshine Educare , which has 250 children, started in the Skandaalkamp informal settlement on a dump site outside Table View, but in June 2015, the City of Cape Town moved the community, along with six other settlements, to remote Wolwerivier. (“Thrown to the wolves”, Tabletalk, July 19), where the school reopened in August of that year. Since then its number of pupils has doubled.
