Men caught with stolen bank cards

The SAPS Milnerton cluster made 528 arrests between Sunday April 23 and Sunday April 30, according to police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler.

Officers arrested people on various charges, including serious contact crimes, such as murder, attempted murder and armed robbery.

Other charges included public drunkenness, driving under the influence, shoplifting, theft and fraud.

In one case, officers patrolling on foot in Dunoon on Friday April 28 arrested two men, aged 19 and 28, found with bank cards bearing someone else’s name and a cellphone they presumed stolen.

The following morning, the officers noticed the name on the cards matched an entry in the station’s crime register. When traced, the owner of the cards told police that three men, one of whom had pointed a gun at him, had robbed him on his way home.

The two men being held on possession of stolen property were then also charged with armed robbery.
