A Milnerton High School Grade 11 pupil has been suspended after he allegedly attacked a matric girl with a belt.
School principal Paul Besner said the incident had happened on school grounds during the matrics’ 40 Days celebration to countdown to matric exams on Thursday August 14.
“We are not denying that the incident did happen and we strongly condemn the accosting of the female student by the other. We condemn any form of violence in the school. After a preliminary hearing and revision of the video footage, the boy was suspended the day after the incident,” he said. Tabletalk received several emails and phone calls about the incident. There were also calls on Facebook for the school to take action. Mr Besner said the boy had been suspended following a preliminary hearing.
He said the girl had been taken to hospital as a precaution, and she had returned to school the following day.
“After the full investigation and the hearing, I will provide a full report for the media. We have cameras in the school, so we have footage of the incident and we will get to the bottom of this,” said Mr Besner.
