Milnerton High: where worlds come together

Milnerton High School opened on January 22 1959 with 28 pupils, a headmaster and one teacher. From those humble beginnings, in a prefabricated wooden building, the school has grown to a present enrolment of nearly 1100 pupils and 54 teachers.

Milnerton High, under principal Paul Besener, prides itself on its spirit of inclusivity with 37 home languages represented at the school and pupils coming from a wide variety of cultures and faiths.

It’s a tradition that started in the 1980s, when the children of the French company workers who built Koeberg power station came to Milnerton High School.

Over the years, the school has developed its buildings and grounds and, in the last decade alone, it has seen the addition of a world-class conference centre, a competitive swimming pool and an AstroTurf facility.
