The Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers will be hosting its exhibition weekend on Saturday February 25 and Sunday February 26 at its club on the corner of Erin, Duke and Campground roads, in Croquet Lane, behind the Rondebosch Croquet Club, from 9am to 4pm.
There will be rides for children on the 5 inch gauge live steam/electric engine. The cost for each ride will be R5 a child.
There will be a track set up for those who want to try slot car racing; O Gauge, HO Gauge, N Gauge, and N Gauge Modular layouts will be operational; there will be a display of static steam engines, which will run off compressed air as well as hot air engines; and in the main hall, the N Gauge Modular section will be displaying their fully operational show module.
The Hobby Shop will have various model railway equipment and model kits; Shaun Le Roux from Cape Model Trains will be displaying items of South African Railway equipment and memorabilia, and Steve Norman from Bestoys will be displaying model cars, which will all be for sale.
The club’s surplus magazines and books as well as refreshments will also be on sale.
The entry fee is R20 for adults and R10 for pupils. Children under 6 enter free.
