Monte Vista, Bothasig guides land top awards

De Grendel District Girl Guides received awards at the Girl Guides South Africa Cape West Region annual general meeting in Pinelands on Saturday September 10.

Eight girls, from the Bothasig and Monte Vista Girl Guide Companies, received their Chief’s Challenge badge, the highest award for this branch of guiding.

They are now members of the De Grendel Ranger Crew, a group of girls aged between 14 and 18.

Girl guides, are girls aged between 10 and 14, who form part of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

Girl Guides South Africa Cape West Trefoil Guild president Cicely Holland, from Edgemead, received her 40-year service award and also handed over awards to her fellow guild members.

Guild members, for women older than 18, support the guiding ethos and pledge to help other people.
