Milnerton police are investigating after a MyCiTi bus was torched in Summer Greens.
Only the driver had been inside the stationary bus at the time of the incident on Wednesday November 14, said Milnerton police spokeswoman Captain Nopaya Madyibi.
“It is alleged that the bus driver could smell petrol, and when he checked, the bus was on fire, and he tried to put the fire out.
“Unknown suspects poured petrol at the side of the bus and set it alight. The case is under investigation and nobody has been arrested,” she said.
Fire and Rescue’s Theo Layne said firefighters had responded just after 8pm.
“No injuries have been reported. An inflammable device was thrown underneath the bus near the rear wheels.Severe damage to the bus’s rear wheel and wheel arch had been caused by the fire,” he said.
