The wildcat strike by MyCiTi drivers is continuing this morning across the city.
Some of the bus drivers, who are employed by the vehicle operating companies (VOCs) that run the MyCiTi bus routes, downed tools yesterday demanding better working conditions and to be in-sourced by the City.
The City has urged the VOCs and their employees to meet as soon as possible to break the deadlock that has left commuters in the lurch.
It’s not yet clear how long the strike will last. The drivers have threatened to intensify their actions if their demands are not met.Â
Routes T02, X02, D01, D02, D03, D04, 232, 233, 234, 236 and 237 are running, but services remain suspended on routes A01, T01, T03, T04, 101, 102, 103,104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 230,231, 235, 251, 260, 261 and 262.
Law-enforcement agencies are keeping an eye on the strike.
