Table View SAPS welcomed a new police chief on Monday with the appointment of Colonel Tjikama Markus Mbangu.
The previous station commander, Colonel Junaid Alcock, transferred to Athlone SAPS after 11 months as head of Table View police.
Colonel Mbangu, a former station commander of Athlone police station, has 32 years years police experience. He is married with three children, two boys and a girl. He has a national diploma and a BTech degree in policing.
David Harris, chairman of the Table View Community Police Forum welcomed Colonel Mbangu to his new post, saying: “Colonel Mbangu can look forward to the full cooperation of the Table View CPF and security forum partners in the fight against crime.”
Colonel Alcock was appointed Table View station commander in December last year (“New police chief for Table View,” Tabletalk, December 20, 2022) and before that Brigadier Lindiwe Dyantyi held the position. She was appointed in May 2018 following a seven-year stint by the previous police chief, Colonel Dirk Vosloo (“Table View top cop leads by example,” Tabletalk, May 2, 2018).
In a statement, Colonel Mbangu said he would continue with the station’s partnerships with the community.
