On January 21 1986, the start of a new school year, 357 Standard 6 and 7 (now referred to as Grades 8 and 9) pupils, the headmaster, 18 teachers and the secretary walked through the doors of Table View High School.
Everyone had lofty expectations for the new school and they paved the way for those who followed.
In 1989, TVHS had its first group of Std 10s – which meant it could elect a prefect body. Seventeen prefects were elected, with Sally O’Shea and Bradley Wade being the first head girl and head boy. Over the years, the school’s staff and pupil complements have grown along with its facilities. Classrooms and sports fields have been added along with an impressive multi-purpose centre.
Last year, the school celebrated its 30th anniversary. To mark the occasion, TVHS made the biggest cake possible and a photo was taken of the whole school spelling a big “30”.
TVHS’s extra-curricular programme includes various sport and culture activities and it boasts strong academic results.
