Airline pilot Mark Nel, 56, died on Sunday June 30, two weeks after he was shot in the leg in Melkbosstrand.
The Qatar Airways pilot, who had been based Doha for the past four years, was with a friend
in Melkbosstrand on their way
to a hotel in Blaauwberg when they were attacked on Sunday June 16.
Mr Nel was shot in the right leg and rushed to hospital later that night.
Provincial police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said police were now investigating a murder case.
No arrests have been made.
