Police arrest man, 33, for attempted murder

Police arrested a 33-year-old man for stabbing a man in the head in Parklands on Saturday August 27.

Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler said officers responded to an assault complaint in Gie Road.

They found a car with a man inside who had a deep wound in his head.

“A description of the suspect was given to officers, who immediately informed a security patrol vehicle. The victim was taken to a nearby medical facility by friends,” said Captain Chandler.

Police later arrested a man fitting the suspect’s description who had been found walking in Parklands Main Road.

“The suspect was still in possession of the knife which was used to stab the victim,” said Captain Chandler.

The suspect appeared in Cape Town Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of attempted murder. The victim was discharged from hospital on Sunday August 28.

* Police arrested two men for burgling a West Beach house on Sunday August 28.

Captain Chandler said the men, aged between 25 and 40, had used their hands to force open the garage door of the house in Marina Crescent, shortly after 7am.

The family alerted their security firm when they noticed their gate standing ajar. The officer who responded spotted two men walking with backpacks near the home and apprehended them.

When the police arrived they searched the bags and the homeowner identified stolen property.

The men appeared in Cape Town Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
