Bothasig police have arrested three men who were allegedly involved in the theft of motorcycle in Edgemead on Saturday September 23.
Bothasig police spokesman Warrant Officer Jacques Mostert, said Constable Clifford Jaftha and Warrant Officer Luan Steers, were on patrol when they received information about the suspects.
“A photograph of a motorcycle being towed to Montague Gardens by a red Volkswagen had been circulating on social media. While following up on the information, they had received, they patrolled past the house of the possible suspect, but the suspect’s vehicle was not there.
“On a call-out to Edgemead, they went past another residence in Bothasig which has been attracting police interest only to see the red vehicle parked there.
“On the way to Edgemead, the ownership of the vehicle was checked and found that it was registered to the person they were looking for,” said Warrant Officer Mostert.
He said the officers went to the Bothasig address and when they entered the yard, they saw a woman running to the back and followed her.
They found the owner of the Volkswagen and another man with “a stripped down motorcycle similar to the one on social media”.
The two men, aged 32 and 21, were arrested for being in the possession of stolen property after it was verified that the stripped down motorcycle was the one stolen a few days earlier.
The 19-year-old woman was also detained.
