An Edgemead preacher, Allan van Heerden, has released his second worship album, Walk By Your Spirit.
The Linkway Baptist Church pastor wrote all 10 songs on the album which his congregation, and churches abroad sing in their services, he says.
Van Heerden says he has always had a passion for writing songs, which are based on different “seasons in his life and various seasons in the church”.
Jason Green, his wife Sam van Heerden, Clyde Lewis, Selwyn Jolley, and Adrian Botha all contributed to the making of the album, he says.
“I am doing God’s work through music. Music brings people together.”
He says many churches are still singing songs from his 2008 album, Reign In Me, and this inspired him to write the second album.
He worked closely with music producer Theo Crous in the months leading up to the album’s release on Friday January 21, he says.
“It was an emotional roller-coaster agreeing to different tunes and intros of many songs, but God helped us bring it all together to make it an album.”
He says his vocals have matured since his first album, and he believes the songs on Walk By Your Spirit will touch many lives.
The ultimate goal of creating the album, he says, is to spread God’s message, and he hopes it reaches as many people as possible.
The album is available on all digital platforms and to buy the CD, for R100, call the church at 021 559 3768.
