Time is running out for those who still have to register for the mid-year examination as registration for this second chance opportunity to write or rewrite the matric examinations closes this Thursday January 31.
This examination, which will be written in June, is intended for those pupils who have not completed their matric, those who want to improve their results and write a supplementary examination as well as those who failed their matric.
Pupils can visit www.education.gov.za and click on the link to register for the Amended Senior Certificate examinations at the bottom left of the Department of Basic Education website homepage. This will link pupils to an online registration portal. Alternatively, pupils can visit their nearest district education office and register in person there.
Only candidates who were registered for and wrote the November 2018 NSC examination
2018 Grade 12 pupils may register to write the examination if:
they failed to meet the requirements in the November examination;
they passed but seek to improve their performance; or
they were absent from the writing of one or more question papers due to ill-health or other unforeseen circumstances.
How do I apply and submit my application?
Application forms are available at high schools, district and provincial education offices as well as from the website:
You must submit your application with a copy of your statement of results, a certified copy of your ID, and a motivation letter if required. Application forms may be dropped off at the Education District Office closest to the pupil or visit the Exam Walk-in Centre at the Western Cape Education Department head office, 2nd Floor, Lower Parliament Street, Cape Town.
