The work on the R27 and M19 (near Melkbosstrand) will be temporarily suspended during August to comply with contract stipulations on all seal work during the winter months.
According to a statement released by the Department of Transport and Public Works contract stipulations enforce an embargo on all seal work from mid-May to mid-September due to low temperatures and unfavourable weather conditions generally experienced through this period.
All seal work on the contract ceased in mid-May but appurtenant works continued and were completed by the end of July.
The contractor will start with the remaining seal work in mid-September and be complete by the end of November.
