Brothers Jayden and Liam Sobremonte, who attend Milnerton Primary School, represented Western Province JKA Karate at the South African JKA championships held at the Standard Bank Arena last month in Johannerburg. Both Jayden and Liam won first place in their divisions, Junior Novice Orange, and received double golds for their kata and kumite. Capriccio Pre-school donated clothing to the Phoenix Sports Academy clothing drive. The academy works with at risk children in underprivileged areas to teach life-skills through sports. CBC St Johns Grade 7 pupil Adam Wilcock came 17th out of 15 453 pupils who participated in the Horizon Maths Competition in the Western Cape. The Horizon Maths Competition is South Africas premier competition for junior school pupils. Brett Lee van der Schyff, a Grade 11 pupil at Edgemead High who plays soccer for Ajax Cape Town, has been selected as part of the team which will be going to Amsterdam this month to participate in the NextGen Series. Shelanti Private School recently had a spelling bee and the top three pupils in the intermediate phase are, Kameron Burgoyne, Aidan Ramlal and Daniel van Schoor.
