Science week

■ Pupils from Parklands College, CBC St John’s, Inkwenkwezi High School and Bloubergrant High School met professional scientists and learnt about their fields of research during a science week. They heard from visiting German physicist Dr Falk Ebert, of Herder Gimnasium, Berlin, about statistical modelling; a cosmologist about Einstein’s theory of general relativity; an astronomer about radio astronomy and South Africa’s SKA project; an evolutionary biologist about alien life; an industrial engineer about the science of supply chain management; and a virologist about how flu viruses mutate and the science of vaccines.
