The police have warned car owners to be on their guard in the vicinity of Erica Road and Donkin Avenue, in Table View, because the area is a hot spot for thefts out of cars and burglaries.
Milnerton police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Daphne O’Reilly said officers had found a man carrying spark plugs in the area on Thursday August 4, shortly after 5am. They are are commonly used to break car windows.
Warrant Officer O’Reilly appealed to motorists to remove valuables from their cars, park behind locked gates and activate their alarms.
* The police have asked the public to help them track down two men who robbed a security officer at gunpoint, on Wednesday July 20.
The Milnerton Crime Watch officer was chasing the two men who had earlier robbed a house.
They were in a blue Toyota Aygo with CF 138 481 registration.
The car stopped suddenly and the men climbed out, one of them pointed a gun at the security officer.
They searched his vehicle, took his car keys and a cellphone pouch, then drove off in the Toyota as a resident came to help the officer.
