Several arrested for stolen goods

Police arrested a man carrying a flat-screen TV, a DVD player and an iron, near Marine Circle, after he couldn’t explain how he had come by them.

Table View police spokeswoman, Captain Adriana Chandler, said police had found the 27-year-old man at the circle on Thursday April 19, at 5.15am, after getting a report about him acting suspiciously.

Police arrested a man and a woman on Thursday April 19 for burgling a York Street house in Bloubergstrand.

The burglars fled without taking anything when the homeowner disturbed them. Police arrested the suspects on the corner of West Coast and Sandown roads at about noon, a few hours after the break-in. Captain Chandler said officers had taken them to the scene of the crime where the homeowner had identified them.

Police arrested nine Nigerian nationals in Parklands and seized stolen cellphones, credit-card-skimming devices and a small quantity of dagga.

Captain Chandler said officers had responded to a drug complaint at a Crawley Road address just before midnight on Saturday April 21.

The nine men were charged with contravention of Section 86 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, possession of an illegal substance and fraud.
