Paradesi Educare and Orphanage Centre will hold a talent auction fund-raiser next month.

The non-profit has 50 children at its educare in Joe Slovo and 10 children at its orphanage in Summer Greens.

Yvette Zihhalirwa runs Paradesi’s projects, who said they relied on donations to survive and urged people to attend the “talent auction” at Tony’s Roma in Flamingo Vlei, Table View, on Saturday April 14.

“The idea of the talent auction is for people to offer up their talents or professional time for us to auction off.

“For example, if you are a beauty therapist you can offer a free message or if you are a doctor you can offer a free consultation. Paradesi benefits from the proceeds and the person or company benefits from free marketing,” she said.

The auction list so far includes, among other things, a domestic worker who has offered to clean a house, an artist who specialises in portraits and a themed dinner party for six.

Ms Zihhalirwa said they were looking for a photographer and beauty therapist to add to the list.

There will be spot prizes and entertainment during the auction, which starts at 6pm. Tickets are R150 and include a dish of your choice courtesy of Tony’s Roma. Call 083 467 8699 or email paradesiinfo@gmail.com for details.
