The Purple Kennel project is urging the public to help them reach their goal of getting 2 000 kennels to animal welfare organisations within the next five weeks.
Founded by Samantha Chatham, from Table View, the Purple Kennel Project is an animal-welfare support initiative that uses donations to build eco-friendly kennels which they then distribute to animal welfare organisations. The kennels are made between mid-April and the end of October.
Each kennel costs R465 which has a personalised label with the donor’s name or company and their logo.
Last year the Purple Kennel Project made 1 117 kennels according to Ms Chatham.
“Our aim was to send out 883 kennels in our 2019 season to make the grand total 2 000. So far we have managed to send out 692 – meaning we need another 191,” she said.
As the weather improves, donations start slowing down noted Ms Chatham.
“We notice that as we start getting more regular sunshine with warmer days, donations dried up but I urge people to help us reach our goal of 2 000 kennels.” To donate a kennel or for more information call 021 556 2381 or go to info@purplekennel.co.za or www.purplekennelproject.
