A man was arrested for alleged poaching in Woodbridge Island, Milnerton this morning.
Members of the Law enforcement Marine Unit in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries and SAPS Borderline officers followed up after hearing of an increase in poaching activity in the Robben Island vicinity.
They came across a man, who was the driver of one of two vehicles used to pick up abalone, dropped on shore after it was taken off the island.
Law enforcement spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, said: “Seventy two units of unshucked and one unit of shucked abalone were recovered.”
The vehicle was also impounded.
