A Table View woman has put pen to paper to share her emotional story of finding her biological father.
Marscha Paremore will launch I Found My Father on Saturday, June 22.
The book details special moments on her journey of finding her biological Greek father; the moment of meeting him for the first time, teenage pregnancy, the importance of DNA, and the struggles she faced “being lost without an identity”.
She said her late step-father had encouraged her mother to finally open up to her about her biological father, although it was around 40 years later.
She said she had always lived a life of second-guessing and unable to make decisions but eventually finding her father had prompted her to be a better wife and mother to her two sons and firmer in decision-making.
It all started when she began journalling her childhood memories in 2020, and decided that her purpose was to find her biological father, with the help of God, and her husband.
She received possible links, names and numbers of family members of her father, and that was the starting point.
While this part of her journey was not easy, she explained that some people were rude, others apprehensive, while some over-shared but it all lead to a dead end.
“But the final phone call was the one. I made myself a cup of tea, closed my bedroom door and decided to give the last number a ring, and it led to the beginning of a new chapter in my life,” said Ms Paremore.
She then received significant information and leads which made her buy a DNA test and shipped it to the man who was her father, who also did the same DNA test, and they matched at 99.9%.
In 2023, she met her father for the first time during the festive season. She said she immediately realised that they have similar features, including similar hands and toes.
“When I was a young teenager, after questioning my mom about who my father was, I was told many stories and even told that my father died when I was a baby, but I grew up and didn’t believe that version because deep down in my gut, I sensed that my father was still alive,” said Ms Paremore.
She said her willingness to not give up has proved correct and that’s what the aim of publishing the book is based on: to bring hope, healing and restoration.
