The Nutty Knitters, a group of seniors, who knit for the needy, will be making warm gear for Covid-19 patients in a field hospital.
The group will make blankets, scarves, beanies and bed socks for patients at the Hospital of Hope housed in the Cape Town International Conference Centre.
The non-profit has been around since 2010 and has some 80 members, but, according to chairwoman Melodie Potgieter, lockdown has prevented them from helping in the way they normally do because their usual beneficiaries have been unable to accept knitted goods.
The Nutty Knitters have also been unable to attend their usual meetings and collect their subs, causing a funding crunch.
“This project is going to require miles and miles of wool. If anyone wishes to make a donation of money or wool, this would be most welcome,” Ms Potgieter said.
If you would like to make a wool donation, call Melodie at 082 877 5431 or Marion at 083 625 021 to arrange a pick-up time.
