Non-profit organisation TLC Outreach Projects held its annual graduation ceremony, at GrandWest last week, for its class of 2023.
For the past 27 years, TLC has worked in Table View, running various training and support programmes for troubled youth and the homeless.
Each year, TLC runs an 11-month course offering life-skills, life-orientation, family re-integration, job opportunities and more.
TLC’s founder, Colleen Pietersen, said 2023 had been a tough year for funding but despite the struggles, 25 of the 49 who started the programme managed to graduate.
“We enrolled youth from Dunoon, Olive Close Village, the homeless from the streets, ex-offenders as our 2023 intake. Our goal and vision was to empower them.
“This 11-month programme is based on day-to-day classes. We collect them at various pick-up points, feed them a cooked meal daily and drop them off.”
She congratulated or the graduates and thanked the organisation’s supporters.
