A 51-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman have been arrested in Parklands in connection with a romance scam that netted more than R900 000, say police.
The two were picked up on Friday July 22, after officers from the provincial commercial crimes cyber investigation unit ran a tracing operation in Parklands and Khayelitsha, according to police spokesman Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi.
The suspects were arrested on charges of fraud, theft and contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
Police seized all electronic devices found on the premises.
Warrant Officer Swartbooi said the investigation was ongoing.
