Two men arrested for drug possession

A man was caught with tik and mandrax last week in Table View.

Table View SAPS arrested a 39-year-old man last week Thursday after he was searched and found with 11 bags of tik and one mandrax tablet.

According to Table View SAPS spokeswoman, Captain Adriana Chandler, the man had been walking in the road shortly after midnight and appeared nervous when he saw the police vehicle.

She said the man complied to a search.

He was due to appear at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday January 7.

A business owner in Parklands was arrested with a bag of mandrax on New Year’s Eve.

• In a separate incident, a man was arrested on New Year’s Eve for drug possession and trying to bribe a police officer in Parklands.

Captain Chandler said that during police patrols, officers stopped a local business owner who was acting suspiciously and carrying a bag.

When he was searched, police found a plastic bag of mandrax in his possession. He then allegedly offered the officer R1000 to let him go.

The 54-year-old suspect was due to appear at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday January 3.
