The City of Cape Town has announced that motorists, who were given a three-month Covid-19 licence renewal extension to Monday August 31, can now renew them by Tuesday September 22.

No interest or penalties will be charged if motor vehicle licences are renewed on or before this date.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation has confirmed the extension applies across the country.

If possible, you can also renew your licence online. However, there may be a delay due to backlogs and high volumes.

If you need to visit a customer office, go early in the day as the City is operating with reduced staff due to the Covid-19 regulations.
